    Overcoming anxiety in public places

A lot of people experience panic attacks especially in public places or in front of many people. They do not like the feeling of being in front of a crowd and they are all afraid that they might commit something which will cause people to ridicule them and laugh at them. Overcoming anxiety in public places is not an easy task but it is definitely something which is achievable and possible. Here are some tips which will help you in overcoming panic attacks in public places.

When in a crowd and you feel that you are about to have a panic attack, you should calm down. This is something which is difficult for people to do but over thinking things will just lead to more anxiety. This will only make matters worse. Keep your mind off the things which cause anxiety. Distract yourself. Think of things which bring you to happy places and things which take off anxiety like a trip to your dream destination and the things you will do there.

If you think that you are about to have an anxiety attack when in the middle of the crowd, go to a place where you can be alone. For example, if you are in a room, you might want to go outside and get some fresh air. You can also go to the ladies room. This will give you time to control your anxiety.

Practice deep breathing exercises, this will come in handy when you have panic attacks. Most people forget to breathe or do not breathe properly when they are having an attack. Take deep and slow breaths when you have a panic attack, not rapid and shallow breaths. This will balance the oxygen and carbon dioxide in your body.

Visualization exercises might also help you. Try to picture yourself somewhere else, in a place where you can relax and in a place where you can be calm.
